START WITH THE BUSINESS

Maintenance should fit the site you actually run

Your website needs attention as software, content and business requirements change. Seller’s Bay provides WordPress maintenance for Irish businesses that want a clear plan for updates, backups and everyday support. Tell us about your current site and the tasks you need help managing.

A small business website and a busy online store do not have the same maintenance requirements. The software, hosting, forms and integrations all affect how changes should be handled. We review the setup before recommending an arrangement, rather than assuming every site needs the same checklist.

For an existing website, the first step may be resolving an unsupported plugin, confirming backup access or understanding an intermittent enquiry problem. We distinguish that initial work from routine ongoing care. The proposal explains what is covered, who is responsible and how additional requests will be assessed.

CHOOSE THE SUPPORT YOU NEED

WordPress maintenance tasks we can scope

The proposal confirms the work, deliverables and responsibilities for your project.

01

Initial website and access review

We establish the WordPress setup, hosting arrangement and important features before taking on ongoing work. Access, software licences and the condition of the site need to be understood. Existing faults or overdue repairs are identified so they do not become hidden assumptions in a maintenance agreement.

02

Planned software updates

WordPress, themes and plugins need appropriate update handling. We consider compatibility and the importance of the affected features, with backups and a suitable checking process. More complex sites may need a staging environment. An update is not treated as complete merely because an installation screen reports success.

03

Backup arrangements and recovery planning

We review where backups are stored, what they contain and how recovery would be approached. Frequency and retention depend on the site’s activity and the agreed service. Hosting backups may form part of the plan, but responsibility should be explicit rather than assumed to sit with someone else.

04

Checks after changes

The agreed checks focus on the parts of the website that matter, such as key pages, navigation and enquiry routes. Shops and specialist integrations need an appropriate scope of their own. A routine maintenance check is not a guarantee that every possible visitor journey has been tested.

05

Content updates and practical assistance

We can discuss help with changes to text, images and business details. The volume of updates, review process and available support are set out in the arrangement. New layouts, additional functionality and larger development requests are assessed separately so the monthly work remains manageable and clear.

06

Technical coordination and reporting

When an issue involves the hosting provider or a third-party plugin, we help identify the appropriate next step within the agreed scope. We explain completed maintenance and outstanding concerns in plain language. Response arrangements and responsibilities are confirmed rather than implied by a generic promise of unlimited support.

THE DETAILS THAT MATTER

A support arrangement with clear boundaries

Separate routine care from a repair project

If the site is already broken, compromised or significantly out of date, it may need investigation and recovery work before routine maintenance is appropriate. We assess the situation and explain what needs to happen first, including any access or backup limitations.

That initial assessment also helps identify features that are expensive to maintain or depend on unsupported software. You can then decide whether to repair, replace or retire them, with a clearer view of the cost and practical implications.

Understand the ongoing responsibilities

The agreement should explain who handles hosting, licences, content approvals and important business checks. We discuss the support process and which tasks require a separate quote. Those details matter more than a long feature list with no explanation of how the service works.

Maintenance reduces avoidable risk and helps keep the site usable, but it cannot promise that software will never fail or that a website will never face a security problem. A sensible plan includes how issues are identified and escalated when they arise.

A CLEAR WAY FORWARD

From an existing website to an agreed care plan

01

Review the setup

Understand the site, access, hosting and current problems. Identify any initial repair or onboarding requirements.

02

Agree the responsibilities

Set out the maintenance tasks, checking process, backup arrangements and support scope in a clear proposal.

03

Maintain and communicate

Carry out the agreed work, check the relevant journeys and explain completed tasks and outstanding recommendations.

Useful reporting about the work performed

Maintenance reporting should tell you what changed, which checks were completed and what still needs attention. If an issue requires a licence renewal, hosting decision or separate repair, we explain the action needed. The purpose is to help you understand the condition of the site and the responsibilities around it.

BEFORE YOU ENQUIRE

Your questions, answered

Can you maintain a WordPress website built by someone else?

Yes, subject to an initial review of the setup, access and condition. We need to understand the software, licences and hosting before agreeing support. Existing faults or unsupported components may require separate work before a routine maintenance arrangement can begin.

Does maintenance include hosting?

That depends on the proposal. Hosting, domain management, software licences and maintenance are different responsibilities, even when one provider handles several of them. We identify which services are included and any separate costs before the arrangement starts.

Are content changes included?

We can include an agreed amount or type of content-update work. Tell us how often you need changes and who approves them. New pages, redesigns or additional functionality are discussed separately unless they have been explicitly included in the maintenance scope.

Can you support a WooCommerce store?

We can assess the store and its requirements. Shops need care around checkout, orders, payment systems and integrations, so the scope differs from a basic information site. Our wider eCommerce management service may be more appropriate when you also need product and commercial support.

Can you fix an urgent problem first?

Contact us with the website address, symptoms and any known recent changes. We can assess whether we can take on the investigation and explain the next step. Availability, recovery work and any response commitment need to be agreed for the specific situation.

Will maintenance make the site completely secure?

No service can guarantee that a website will never have a security issue. Appropriate updates, access control, backups and sensible operating practices help manage risk. We explain the agreed maintenance measures and identify concerns that need action beyond routine care.
